What's up! Just had a few thoughts on my mind about the benefits of water. Its something i believe that is highly important but yet overlooked. From what i have seen personally from spending countless hours in various gyms, to just daily living in life around multiple individuals at different locations. Water seems to be only needed when someone seems to have nothing else to drink or when someone is thirsty.
Did you know that when you seem thirsty its your body's way of giving you a warning sign? Yup that's right! It usually means your getting low on reserves so its time to replenish. You should not wait to drink water only when you feel thirsty. So how is thirst triggered? When the body starts to lose water content, our blood volume starts to decline. From that point the lowering in blood volume triggers a gland located in the brain called the Hypothalamus. This small powerful gland is linked to daily activities such as drinking, eating, regulating body temperature, along with a few more great responsibilities. The gland then sends out a signal for a drink by raising the concentration of sodium in the blood stream. In turn that will give us the sensation of feeling thirsty!
WOW! I know the human body is amazing right! You should give your body a round of applause for the hard work it does for you. Water helps remove so many toxins and waste from our bodies and without proper water intake we could potentially poison ourselves with our own metabolic waste. I'm sure you heard the saying the body can survive without food for 3-4 weeks and only 3-5 days without water. So here is a quick look at why that statement is made.
Water carries nutrients and oxygen to the cells within our bodies. Its involved in nearly every bodily function. Including digestion, absorption, excretion, maintaining normal body temperature, and circulation. Its helps with our breathing since lung tissue must be moist in order to produce oxygen intake and carbon dioxide excretion. You lose around one pint of water each day from just breathing! You lose even more water when you exercise. Lack of water can cause digestive problems, joint soreness, muscles soreness, poor function of organs, excess body fat, kidney stones, the list goes on and on. So please do yourself a favor daily and drink your water. And yes you can also over do it if you drink to much water. That's called "Water intoxication" which is rare. The amount of water you drink varies from person to person. Two liters to a gallon daily could help keep adequate levels especially during the summer time!
Health TIP; Give your body a chance to adjust and adapt to the water increases. Especially if you are not use to higher levels of water intake. Thanks for reading! And stay hydrated without hesitation.
